The focus of qarma
Quite simply, qarma delivers a pure source of GLA. Special care has been taken with this oil, to provide a natural form that has undergone minimum processing. The proof of the quality of the oil in qarma is that it is made from organically certified agricultural materials - (Organic Certification UK5) and the product carries the Soil Association 'Organic Standard' logo.
qarma provides a high level of the omega-6 fatty acid, GLA. Research has shown that certain fatty acids, particularly GLA, are necessary for the normal structure of cell membranes, and are converted by the body into prostaglandins: hormone like substances that regulate many functions of cells in all tissues on a moment to moment basis. Such functions include the reproductive cycle, the maintenance of hormonal balance and helping blood flow to all tissues. GLA is an essential element of skin structure, and together with Vitamin E helps maintain smooth, healthy-looking skin. This is a key focus of qarma, but these important fatty acids may also help with a whole range of other health benefits. qarma may be of particular help to women around the time of menstruation because it can help regulate prostaglandins. These hormone-like messengers can help regulate body processes such as the reproductive system and the maintenance of hormonal balance. Evening Primrose oil is actually a very delicate substance, and if it is exposed to heat, light or oxygen, it can go rancid. Equazen looked to how most mainstream oils were made, and concluded that some of the processes could be stripping out much of the beneficial effects of the oils. qarma is produced according to the following specification:
- Only organic seed is used, certified to be free from chemicals or pesticides.
- The oil is extracted using a unique method of mechanically pressing the seed to ensure that the oil has only minimal contact with heat, light or oxygen.
- This creates an improved oil compared to the other two main extraction methods: extraction with solvents which can leave chemical traces, and ‘cold-pressing’, which typically involves high temperatures that may damage the oil.
- This all-natural oil is then merely filtered to take out sediments and small particles. The oil is not refined because this may strip out natural antioxidants and other positive elements.
- Independent analysis has shown that qarma has twice as many antioxidants as generic brands of EPO.
- From the soil to oil, the entire supply chain has been organically certified, with final approval by the Soil Association.
- The end result? Just look at the rich clear golden colour of the oil! Like first press virgin olive oil, it is in as raw and pure a form of EPO possible.
The result is a bit like comparing fresh orange juice to orange cordial: qarma is the EPO equivalent that is ‘freshly squeezed’.
Jewish and Muslim consumers need not be worried about the presence of any porcine elements. The gelatin that we use for all our capsules is specially approved as being Halal and Kosher. Intake Research suggests that it takes about 12 weeks to replenish your body’s stores of long chain fatty acids and that the benefits to the body are directly related to the number of capsules taken. Your body should feel the benefits over the weeks and months as it returns to its natural nutritional balance. You can then reduce the intake to a maintenance level, usually 2 capsules per day.
